Broccoli – a super plant for your health
Eating vegetables, especially cruciferous vegetables, is an essential part of a healthy diet. Cruciferous vegetables include different types of cabbage, for example, broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts.
Broccoli is known as a real health super plant. One of the most important, if not the most important reason for the healthiness of broccoli is the compound it contains called sulforaphane.
Sulforaphane is formed especially when broccoli or its sprouts are chewed. In this case, the myrosinase enzyme contained in broccoli is activated and converts glucoraphanin into its active form, sulforaphane. The intestinal microflora also converts glucoraphanin into sulforaphane.
Cooked broccoli contains significantly less sulforaphane than raw broccoli or broccoli sprouts. The myrosinase enzyme, which is responsible for the formation of sulforaphane, is destroyed by excessive heating, and therefore it is only worth lightly steaming the broccoli for approx. 3-5 minutes, so that the active ingredients are preserved as well as possible without being destroyed.

The glucoraphanin (precursor of sulforaphane) contained in broccoli powder is manufactured using a natural patented process. This extract contains the strongest concentration of glucoraphanin on the market (13%).
Since 1997, the manufacturer of the powder has cooperated with researchers at Johns Hopkins University to promote research on glucoraphanin and sulforaphane and their potential health effects.
